The building located at the address Carrer Montcada 27 used to be adjoined to the Baroque-style Dolores Church, which had been in poor condition since the Spanish Civil War. In the 1970s, the central nave was demolished, whilst the entrance door and side naves were preserved, in a process of hollowing out the town centre. This gave rise to both a new square and a new façade of monumental magnitude.

The project repositioned the main entrance adjacent to the side naves of the old church, with a monumental opening that allowed light to enter the central space. The building was laid out around the new façade, and once this was completed, the new openings in the courtyard façade would draw attention to the Ports of Beseit.

The renovation was entirely carried out using dry construction systems, including the lightweight reinforcement of the wooden ceilings using CLT panels, to prevent the need for micropile foundations and to preserve the archaeological remains.
